Q: What do you have to recommend for someone who has Type 2 Diabetes, not much money, and is interested in Young Living products?
A: My first answer is diet. The intake of food must be analyzed for optimal nutrition with Type 2 Diabetes. Dr. Schwarzbein's book The Schwarzbein Principle II, The Transition: A Regeneration Program to Prevent and Reverse Accelerated Aging is an excellent place to begin learning about better nutrition. Diana Schwarzbein, M. D. , is a leading authority on metabolic healing. She founded The Endocrinology Institute of Santa Barbara where she sub-specializes in metabolism, diabetes, osteoporosis, menopause and thyroid conditions. At $14.95 for nearly 500 pages, this book is a bargain. No matter how many supplements one takes, or at worst prescription medications, if the diet is not supportive of health there will be no long term healing. We're not looking to mask or reduce symptoms, we're looking to eradicate the source of the disease.
Secondly I would recommend supplementing with Young Living's Ning Xia Red juice. The antioxidants found in fruits such as the Ning Xia wolfberry (aka goji berry) can help fight free radicals in the body, helping to protect cell membranes and improve immunological function. The wolfberry has been used in the treatment of many conditions, including diabetes, in China for centuries. Its polysaccharides have been shown to help balance blood sugar and insulin response.
Foods rich in antioxidants, such as the wolfberry, work to keep our hormones in balance, to help blood clot normally, to support cell structure and function, and most importantly, to create and sustain a complex cellular communication system which can help the body heal itself and maintain a healthy immune system.
To get the antioxidant benefits of 1 ounce of Ningxia Red juice you would need to eat 4 pounds of carrots, 8 oranges, 2 quarts of carrot juice, 1 pint of orange juice, 2 pounds of raw beets, 2 cups of beet juice, 3 cups of blueberries and 2 cups of raspberries. One ounce of NingXia Red equals all of that combined for antioxidant power!*
Dr. T. Tsuba of Japan reported research showing that anthocyanins - the brightly-colored pigments of a berry - suppress insulin resistance causing the rise in blood glucose ("hyperglycemia") and insulin levels following a meal, providing a foundation for the possible use of anthocyanin-rich foods like the wolfberry in the treatment of diabetes.
Some diabetics may wonder how consuming fruits, which are typically found to be high in natural sugars, could help their blood sugar levels. The fiber in wolfberries keeps the sugar from "spiking" in the blood, making it a healthy choice for diabetics. The wolfberry is actually one of the lowest glycemic foods in existence; it maintains a low impact on blood sugar because of its fiber content and its high occurrence of natural chromium.
What is especially unique about Ning Xia Red juice from other wolfberry or goji juices is that it is a living juice. The whole, fresh wolfberry is pureed and combined with other superfruit juices. Orange and lemon essential oils are added to the mix for extra nutrition and protection.

I can attest that Ning Xia Red has helped balance my low blood sugar and improved my eyesight (I haven't worn my eyeglasses in nearly two years) by drinking 1-2 ounces per day.
